Visual Art Program
Art courses for 7th and 8th grades include a survey of art techniques in drawing, painting, pastels, print-making, and clay. Students complete a selection of art projects, participate in discussions and critiques of visual art images, and practice art interpretation. Eighth graders take part in a field trip to the Des Moines Art Center and Salisbury House.
Student art projects are often displayed around the school building. During Youth Art Month in March, a select number of student art pieces will be displayed at the Fisher Community Center as part of the Young Artists of Marshalltown show and at the Historical Center in Des Moines for the State Youth Art Month show. Lennox Industries in partnership with Miller Middle School displays a selected number of student art projects each year.
