Pending board approval, Jen O’Neal will be the new head coach for the Bobcat volleyball program. With an extensive background in both coaching and education, O’Neal brings a wealth of experience and passion to the team.
O’Neal currently serves as the 7-12 Curriculum and Professional Development leader at the Marshalltown Community School District. Her dedication to education and athletics has been evident throughout her career, particularly in her involvement in the Marshalltown Volleyball Community.
Having coached within the Bobcat volleyball program starting in 2004, O’Neal has served as high school assistant coach at the 9th and JV levels, as well as a head coach at Miller Middle School. Additionally, O’Neal has served as an assistant coach at Marshalltown Community College and as the director of the Marshalltown Volleyball Club since November 2017. In her role with the club, she has organized and coached local AAU teams and managed state AAU tournaments, further demonstrating her commitment to the growth and success of volleyball in the Marshalltown Community.
O’Neal added, “I am very excited for this incredible opportunity to be the head coach for Marshalltown Bobcat Volleyball. I have been so fortunate to have had vast experiences both playing and coaching, and it is truly an honor to continue to be a part of the rich tradition of volleyball in this community. I am really looking forward to working with the players to continue to build and sustain a unified culture that allows us to shape our character, resilience, and success both on and off the court.”
Furthemore, O’Neal’s own experience as a collegiate volleyball player at Grandview has influenced her coaching philosophy. Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree from Buena Vista and a Master’s in Teacher Leadership, Curriculum, and Instruction, also from Buena Vista.
