Isaiah Cox

Marshalltown High School Athletics is excited to announce the appointment of Isaiah Cox as the school's first dedicated Head Girls Wrestling Coach. Isaiah brings a wealth of wrestling experience and a proven track record to the Bobcat Girls wrestling program.

For the past two years, Isaiah has served as the Head Girls Wrestling Coach at Ottumwa High School where he successfully guided five female wrestlers to the state tournament. Alongside his coaching duties, Isaiah worked as a security officer for the Ottumwa School District.

Coach Cox is eager to begin: "I am incredibly excited for this opportunity and can’t wait to begin working with the girls. I want to keep building the program up and help grow girls’ wrestling!”

Isaiah's wrestling credentials are impressive. He competed collegiately at Wartburg College, where he studied Physical Education and was a member of the 2019 wrestling team that qualified for the nationals. Additionally, Isaiah is a two-time National Junior College place winner at Iowa Lakes and earned All American Status as a junior college wrestler.

An Ottumwa native, Isaiah was a standout athlete for the Bulldogs, qualifying for the state wrestling tournament and becoming the school’s all-time leading rusher for the Bulldog football team.

MHS Athletic Director, Ryan Isgrig said, "We are thrilled to welcome Isaiah as our first ever dedicated new girls wrestling coach. His impressive wrestling credentials speak for themselves, but what truly sets him apart is his dedication to building a new program and fostering meaningful relationships with our athletes. Isaiah's passion for the sport and his commitment to mentoring our girls both on and off the mat will undoubtedly continue to elevate our wrestling program to new heights."

In addition to his new role as Head Girls Wrestling Coach, Isaiah will also be coaching football for the Bobcats and working at the MHS Athletic Complex as a grounds worker. Let’s give a warm welcome to Coach Cox!
