Fisher Elementary School has been ranked in the top 40% in the state of Iowa among the 2024 Best Elementary School rankings by U.S. News & World Report.
U.S. News & World Report rankings include more than 79,000 public elementary and middle schools across the country. Schools are ranked at the state and district level, with Best Charter Schools and Best Magnet Schools ranked as stand-alone categories.
Fisher Elementary School was ranked no. 163 out of the 942 elementary schools in Iowa ranked by U.S. News & World Report.
“The teachers and staff at Fisher Elementary work hard to ensure meaningful learning and positive experiences for all students,” said Fisher Principal Mark Lee. “As a building, teacher teams have been developing systems to look at student data and make adjustments to ensure student success. Although we are continually looking for ways to improve and be reflective, it is always important to celebrate the hard work of our teachers and staff. It is an honor to recognize the hard work of our staff for the dedication that they show each and every day.”
“Words can’t express how honored we are of Fisher’s recognition,” said Director of Instruction Shauna Smith. “Fisher staff consistently pull together with ‘all hands on deck’ to help students reach their full potential through the implementation of high quality instructional materials and timely response to student learning needs through professional learning communities.”
The US News & World Report’s methodology focuses on state assessments of students who were proficient or above proficient in mathematics and reading/language arts while accounting for student backgrounds, achievement in core subjects, and how well schools are educating their students. Student-teacher ratios are applied to break ties in the overall score.
The 2024 Best Elementary and Best Middle Schools rankings are based on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education.
