ANKENY — West Des Moines Valley posted three of the day’s four best scores to win the Ankeny Golf Invitational on Thursday at Otter Creek Golf Course.

The Marshalltown boys’ golf squad was unable to crack the individual top-10 and finished ninth in the final team standings, shooting a 321. Valley won the 12-team tournament with a 280, while Dowling Catholic won the fifth-score tiebreaker with host Ankeny for second place after both teams shot 295.

The Bobcats were led on this day by freshman Joe Greazel. He carded a 4-over-par 75 to tie for 19th place, but he settled for 24th after a cardback tiebreaker. Greazel’s round included two birdies, including a birdie 3 on the par-4 10th hole. He followed it with eight straight pars to post a 1-under 34 on the back nine.

MHS senior Ty Faltys shot matching 39s to finish in with a 78 for the Bobcats. He also carded two birdies on the day.

Eli Polley closed the day with an 81, and fellow senior Adam Boone shot 87 to account for the Bobcats’ final scoring round. Sophomores Jacob Seberger (88) and Parker Christen (98) also competed for Marshalltown.

Valley’s Cade Sunde shot a 4-under 67 to earn medalist honors, and his Tiger teammate Braeden Nelson shot 68 for second place.
