BOONE — The Marshalltown boys’ swimming team settled for second place for the second year in a row at the Toreador Relays.
Marshalltown made off with 54 points to trail only host Boone (68) in the final team standings. Carroll was close behind the Bobcats with 50 points in the six-team invitational.
The Bobcats crowned two event champions on the day, starting with Isaac Seberger and Charlie Gilbertson in the 2×100-yard butterfly relay. The MHS duo teamed up for a winning time of 1 minute, 57.21 seconds, finishing with a six-second advantage over their counterparts from Boone.
Kade Randall and Lincoln Barker teamed up to capture the crown in the 2×500 freestyle relay, posting a time of 11:15.58. Runner-up Carroll was more than 26 seconds behind the Bobcats.
Marshalltown scored four second-place finishes as well, opening the day with a silver medal in the 200 medley relay. Landon Stanley, Sam Greazel, Gilbertson and Michael Lechnir earned second in 1:49.25.
Randall and Barker got together for second place in the 2×200 freestyle, totalling 3:58.11, while Jacob Seberger and Greazel were second in the 2×200 individual medley (4:38.76).
The Bobcats’ 400 freestyle relay team of Gilbertson, Randall, Barker and Greazel got second in the day’s final event in a combined time of 3:35.17.
Third-place finishes went to Lechnir and Isaac Seberger in the 2×50 freestyle, Lechnir and Joe Greazel in the 2×100 freestyle, Gilbertson and Stanley in the 2×100 backstroke, and the 200 freestyle relay squad of Lechnir, Isaac Seberger, Randall and Barker.
Marshalltown hosts Atlantic, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Newton and Spencer on Saturday, Dec. 14, for the Bobcat Invite.
