DES MOINES — The Marshalltown boys’ swimming squad won seven of 11 events but fell in the final tally, losing 96-74 to Des Moines Roosevelt on Thursday night.
The Bobcats (0-2) lost to Ames by the same score in their season opener nine days earlier.
Lincoln Barker and Charles Gilbertson claimed two individual wins apiece for MHS. Barker topped the podium in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1 minute, 55.28 seconds, and he claimed the 100 free in 52.80. Gilbertson won the 100 butterfly in 56.86 and the 100 backstroke in 1:00.82.
Sam Greazel got the top spot in the 200 individual medley, winning in 2:14.92, while Michael Lechnir sprinted to the front of the field in the 50 freestyle (24.49).
The Bobcats also captured first place in the 400 freestyle relay, as Kade Randall, Gilbertson, Barker and Greazel combined for a winning time of 3:35.30.
Randall added a runner-up finish in the 500 freestyle (5:44.29), while the Bobcats’ 200 medley relay team of Landon Stanley, Greazel, Gilbertson and Lechnir scored silverin 1:48.75.
Marshalltown is back in action Saturday with a trip to Boone for the Toreador Relays.
