The Ames Little Cyclones sucked all the water out of the Marshalltown High School pool.
Ames dominated Tuesday’s Iowa Alliance Conference dual meet with the Marshalltown girls’ swimming team, sinking the Bobcats 141-45. The Little Cyclones won 11 of 12 events and captured second in all but two events, blasting the Bobcats with their top-tier depth.
Ames, ranked fourth in the IGHSAU power rankings, even swept three individual events.
Marshalltown’s lone win came from senior Kate Hauser, who captured the diving competition with a score of 232.20.
The Bobcats, who are 25th in the power rankings, got runner-up finishes from Emma Case in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 13.82 seconds, and from Leia Hernandez in the 100 freestyle in 57.91.
Hernandez was narrowly out-touched at the wall by Suri Hanson of Ames, who won in 57.43.
Third-place finishes went to Marshalltown’s Drea Ceren in the 500 freestyle (6:10.44), Hernandez in the 50 freestyle (26.36), Adele Beek in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.66), and all three Bobcat relays.
The Bobcats are back in their home pool on Thursday with a dual meet against Indianola starting at 5:30 p.m.
