DES MOINES — Marshalltown girls wrestling finished fifth out of six teams at Tuesday’s Iowa Alliance Conference Invitational at Hoover High School.

The Bobcats scored 90 team points. Mason City won the team title with 197 points, followed by Ottumwa (178) and Ames (169).

Olivia Wise was the top finisher for the Bobcats, grabbing a second-place finish at 190 pounds. She pinned Ames’ Tatum Tharp in the semifinals but lost by fall in the final against Ottumwa’s Sophia Mendibles.

MHS also had three bronze-medal winners — Natalie Nickey at 100 pounds, Ava Kusserow at 130, Genevieve Lantigua at 155 and Nevaeh Gonzalez at heavyweight. Kusserow and Gonzalez both battled their way to two consolation victories for their spot on the podium — Lantigua was 1-1. Geneva Spitzli was 1-2 to finish fourth at 145 pounds.
