The Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Desiree Hudson as a new Associate Principal of Marshalltown High School, effective July 1, 2025.
Hudson brings a wealth of experience in both instructional leadership and student support services to the Bobcat community. Her professional journey includes roles as a Special Education Consultant for Des Moines Public Schools and Instructional Coach for Knoxville Community Schools. Hudson also brings valuable classroom teaching experience where she specialized in differentiated instruction and social-emotional development.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Grand View University, a Master’s degree in Special Education from Morningside University, and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Northwestern College.
“I am truly excited and honored to join the Marshalltown High School community as Associate Principal,” Hudson shared. “What excites me most is the opportunity to collaborate with such a dedicated team of educators and support our students in reaching their full potential. The school’s commitment to growth, innovation, and creating an environment where every student can thrive aligns perfectly with my values as an educator.”
Her top goal as Associate Principal is to create an environment where both students and staff feel supported, valued, and empowered. Hudson is also committed to Marshalltown’s mission of growth through its core value of Embrace The Lead.
“To me, Embrace The Lead means leading by example and empowering others to take ownership of their learning and growth,” she said. “By fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, I hope to be a resource and advocate for our students and staff.”
Outside of her professional career, Hudson enjoys cycling, strength training, long-distance running, reading, and gardening. She and her husband, who is also an educator and coach, are part of a blended family with seven children.
