The Marshalltown Community School District offers high school students the opportunity to serve as Student School Board Representatives. These student leaders provide valuable perspectives and share updates on events and activities at Marshalltown High School. For the 2024-25 school year, the MCSD school board will hear from five representatives.
Zander Stupp a senior at Marshalltown High School, is one of the five representatives. Learn more about Zander and his Bobcat story by reading his responses to the following Q&A:
What activities are you a part of at MHS?
Baseball, Boys Swimming, Girls swim team manager, and Student Rotarians.
What is your favorite subject and why?
Math: I really like the challenge and high level math that will help me later at Iowa State University when going for my aerospace engineering bachelors.
What talent would you like to learn some day?
I would like to learn how to do a handstand.
What has been your favorite school memory so far and why?
Boy's swimming freshman year. It was like one big family where there is no judgment and everyone was welcome.
What is an accomplishment you are proud of?
I am proud to say that I am going to graduate from both MHS and MCC at the same time.
What is the best piece of advice you have received so far?
Don't worry about maintaining a 4.0 it will only stress you out more as the classes become more intense.
What is your biggest dream or goal in life?
I want to work for NASA or SpaceX on rockets or planes.
Who is your hero and why?
My dad is my hero because he is the biggest example to me of what hard work looks like and how it can pay off in the long run.
What are your plans for after high school?
I plan to attend ISU for aerospace engineering.
What does it mean to you to embrace the lead?
It means to embrace what is around me and capitalize on the opportunities because it might not be there later.
